HHPDX Brew Review: a Gigantic Winter Ale

Brew Review:

Love at first sip!

I HATE the typical winter ale. Beer needs nothing to do with nutmeg!! Very happy to taste no such shenanigans in this very fine winter IPA. Ha, winter IPA, so PNW! Van and Ben have done a great job with this brew. You get that Christmas tree pine at the very front, immediately. The hop presence does a fantastic job balancing the big malty body this beer boasts. With the pine you get a touch of a citrus finish. They call it a hazy but I can see my fingers through the glass clutching this pint for dear life! Which I see as a relief from the string of non-stop hazy IPAs found out here throughout the summer.

In reading up on this brew, I found it was modeled after one of my favorite beers in my home state of Michigan. Way to take inspiration from a great midwest beer and sprinkle that PNW beer magic all over it.

Awesome beer! Great Name! Nice job Gigantic!

Paired nicely with Saraveza's fried chicken sandwich. Possibly the best chicken sandwich in NOPO. Fried to perfection, graced with 2 strips of bacon. Served with ranch and hot sauce.

Thanks for tuning in for the first ever HHPDX Brew Review! Head on over to Saraveza to catch this brew & sandwich combo. It's a stellar NE PDX hangout - let me know what you think in the comments below!

Happy house, brew and/or sandwich hunting! - Eldridge
